THOMSON, GA (WFXG) - A Warrenton man is behind bars after police say he robbed a bank in Thomson Thursday.
Tyrone Gibson, 35, is charged with robbing Queensborough National Bank and Trust, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
Officers with the Thomson Police Department responded to the bank, located at 549 West Hill St., at about 12:36 p.m. Thursday after receiving a 911 call about a robbery, according to the GBI. The robber got away with an undisclosed amount of money.
After getting a description of the robber and his vehicle, officers with the police department and the McDuffie County Sheriff's Office stopped a vehicle matching the description near the intersection of the Thomson bypass and Augusta Highway.
The driver, identified as Gibson, was arrested and is being held at the McDuffie County Detention Center.
