WAYNESBORO, GA (WFXG) -

A judge sentenced a Waynesboro man Tuesday for distributing and receiving child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Stephen Jeffrey Babb, 28, was sentenced to more than 24 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release, according to a release from the the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Georgia. Babb was also ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution to victims of his offense.

Babb was actively trading child pornography images through various e-mail addresses while using the free wireless Internet at several Augusta-area fast food restaurants, according to evidence presented at Babb's plea and sentencing hearings in September 2012. He also advertised the availability of child porn on one or more international websites.

Babb pleaded guilty to the charges in January 2013. He will be required to register as a sex offender.

Investigators with Homeland Security Investigation and the Burke County Sheriff's Office identified Babbs. Following the execution of a search warrant, Babb's computer was found to contain more than 870 still images and 93 video images of child porn.

After his sentencing hearing, Babb was returned to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to serve his sentence.
