CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Charlotte said Friday morning that they had made an arrest in a triple shooting at an east Charlotte apartment complex on Thursday.

Anthony Williams, 17, is charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He turned himself in to police early Friday morning.

Police say Williams got into an argument with several people who had an ongoing dispute.

Williams opened fire, hitting a 19-year-male, 15-year-old male and 16-year-old female.

"I believe some of the individuals," Captain Rob Dance said. "Who were struck, were just in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Neighbors are relieved an arrest was made.

"That eases my mind," Neighbor Allen Wicker said. "I know the element is still out here, but it eases my mind in this case an arrest is made."

Police say they are still investigating. They want to make sure there is no round two to this ongoing dispute.

"We've been knocking on doors," Dance said. "We've been doing everything we can to make sure nothing else is about to happen again. This was a serious situation, just because three teenagers were shot, and I want to make sure it's not going to happen again."

Williams is behind bars with a $150,000 bond.

The incident was reported just after 3 p.m. Thursday on the 7100 block of Barrington Drive, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

"I was sitting in the living room and all of a sudden I heard just bang bang bang bang" said Marshall Burley. "So I opened the blinds at the door and saw someone go down right there."

Another neighbor Mercer Blake said it sounded like "bam bam. Yeah But it sounded like metal. Like somebody hitting it with a bat. Pow pow pow."

Officers responding to a call for shots fired found two people suffering from injuries at the Hampton Commons apartment complex. They were transported to the hospital by medical officials.

A third person was taken in a private vehicle to Carolinas Medical Center-University. That person was then transported to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, near uptown Charlotte.

One of the victims is reportedly a young girl believed to be a student at Cochrane Collegiate Academy.

WBTV has learned the victims injuries are not considered to be critical.

Additonal security was added on Friday at Cochrane Middle School as a precaution, according to a CMS spokeswoman.
