LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A suspected drunk driver cried hysterically and threw herself on the ground along the side of Interstate 64 when a Louisville Metro police officer placed her under arrest, according to a police report.

Mary Kay Jones, 25, was observed by an officer turning in front of oncoming traffic at the stoplight on Cherokee Road at Grinstead Drive at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, the report states. The officer said Jones continued eastbound on Grinstead Drive at a high rate of speed on the snow-covered roadway and failed to pull over when he tried to stop her at Grinstead and Lexington Road. She continued onto eastbound I-64 and pulled over just before reaching the Cochran Tunnel.

The officer said Jones smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage and was crying hysterically. When the officer asked her to exit the vehicle, she walked into the slow lane of I-64 and the officer had to pull her back onto the shoulder.

The officer said Jones failed a field sobriety test and threw herself on the ground along the side of I-64 when she told she was under arrest.

Jones is charged with reckless driving and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
