AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
An Augusta school is being recognized for its outstanding commitment to music education.
John S. Davidson Fine Arts School is one of 123 schools nationwide selected as a GRAMMY Signature School semifinalist.
"Many of these schools face serious economic challenges," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation, "so it's truly inspiring to see this level of commitment to arts education and to the students who benefit from this type of curriculum."
The GRAMMY Foundation will announce the finalists in mid-March. These schools will receive a custom award and a grant ranging from $1,000 to $15,000 to benefit their music program.
Davidson Fine Arts School is a public magnet school in the Richmond County School System.
