AIKEN, SC (WFXG) - An Aiken man is in jail after deputies say he broke into a woman's house and set it on fire.
Dowell Clinton Fulmer, 49, is charged with first-degree burglary and third-degree arson, according to the Aiken County Sheriff's Office.
The victim called 911 around 7:45 p.m. Friday and told dispatchers that she had been assaulted and that her house was on fire, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies and firefighters responded to her house on Gooseneck Road.
The woman told deputies that Fulmer broke into her home, grabbed her by the hair, threatened her and then set the house on fire.
Fulmer got away before deputies arrived at the house. He was arrested Sunday and booked at the Aiken County Detention Center.
Deputies say Fulmer is also charged with three counts of violation of an order of protection from previous cases.
