FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Florence police arrested a man in connection with a body found in the Tennessee River.

Jeremy Leshun Williams, 29 of Florence, was arrested and charged with the murder of Brioni "Bree" Jamaal Rutland. Rutland was reported missing on Tuesday.

Divers with the Florence Police Department and Alabama Marine Police found Rutland's body Friday afternoon in the Tennessee River.

Police searched Williams's apartment on Hawthorne Street Friday evening and found evidence that Rutland may have been murdered in Florence.

Florence detectives, along with investigators with Sheffield Police and Tuscumbia Police, worked throughout Friday night gathering evidence leading to Williams's arrest.

He is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center in lieu of a $500,000 bond.

Investigators said the investigation is ongoing, but at this time they believe Williams acted alone. Authorities said they believe Rutland was killed inside the home on Hawthorne Street.

A cause of death has not been determined, and Rutland's body has been sent for an autopsy.
