The U.S. Department of Energy filed an appeal to continue with the termination of the MOX Facility. A judge in South Carolina issued a preliminary injunction to continue the daily operations back on June 7th. If you ask Savannah River Site Watch Director Tom Clements his take on the status of the MOX Project, he says the focus at this point should be the workers. AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A Barnwell, S.C. doctor found dead in Spirit Creek in Augusta died from strangulation and blunt-force injuries, Richmond County Coroner Grover Tuten said.

Dr. Charles Mann III, 60, was last seen in Barnwell County Thursday night, Richmond County deputies said. His blue Honda Civic was found in the woods near the 3400 block of Old Louisville Road Friday night.

Glenn Vincent Riggs II, 22, is charged in Mann's death, investigators said. They say Mann was killed at Riggs' residence on the 2600 block of Dublin Drive. His body was later found in Spirit Creek on Willis Foreman Road.

Riggs is being held at the Richmond County Jail.

Deputies said Mann worked in Barnwell during the week and visited his family on the weekends in Kathleen, Ga.

Before working in Barnwell, Mann was a general surgeon at Tift Regional Medical Center from October 1984 to August 2002, officials at the center said. He was also very active in the Tifton community.

"Our thoughts and prayers go to his family during this very difficult time," a statement released by the medical center reads.
