Fundraising for Jeff

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Sidetrack Bar and Grill on Washington Road put on a benefit Friday night for a former Richmond County Officer.

Jeff Thompson was a deputy for the Richmond County Sheriff's Office for nearly 20 years, until a blood clot changed his life in 2010. But friends and family are fought back Friday, fundraising for his mounting medical expenses.

Hosts said the community turnout couldn't have been stronger. Businesses donated gift cards and food to raise money to help the family.

If you are still interested in helping, you can. Donations are being accepted at any Wells Fargo Bank. An account has been set up specifically for Jeff and his family, to assist them with physician, hospital bills and care expenses. For more information, head to beattheclot.net.
