Man arrested on child pornography charges

MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A child pornography investigation by the FBI put a Huntsville man behind bars.

Huntsville Police arrested 32-year-old Carl Herold in connection to that investigation. Both HPD and the FBI could not comment on the case because it is an ongoing investigation.

Herold faces multiple child pornography charges, including production and distribution of child porn.

His arrest makes for the third recent child pornography case in North Alabama. Tuesday, the case against a woman and her husband facing child pornography charges in Lauderdale County was sent to a grand jury.

In early October, another Lauderdale County man was arrested on more than 10,000 counts of child porn.

Chris Newlin, a spokesperson from the National Children's Advocacy Center, believes that child porn is becoming a growing problem, but also that more people are being caught.

"Part of our finding out about more cases is that we are finding out this happens dramatically more. There was a really important research article published earlier this month that looked at using just one file-sharing program. They found almost 250,000 computers in the US were trading indecent images of children," Newlin said.
