FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

Pinal County deputies seized 46 pounds of marijuana after stopping a pickup truck near Maricopa on Friday morning.

A Chevrolet Silverado extended cab was stopped about 8:20 a.m. after deputies said the driver committed several traffic violations, according to a Pinal County Sheriff's Office news release.

The truck originally stopped in the middle of John Wayne Parkway and the driver began walking to the deputy, who ordered him back in the truck and to pull to the side of the road. The driver then continued down the road before stopping, according to the release.

A deputy approached a passenger in the truck and saw the bundles of marijuana, valued at approximately $34,500.

The driver, Cesar Beltran-Munoz, 29, and the passenger Jose Antone Renteria, 20, both of Mexico, were arrested and booked into the Pinal County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana, according to the release.

The vehicle was seized and towed to the county impound lot, according to the release.
