SAN TAN VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -
A San Tan Valley man was killed Monday in a rollover crash.
Keith Swenson, 68, suffered severe head trauma. Paramedics treated him at the scene on North Ironwood Road south of McCormick Road. He was airlifted to Scottsdale Osborne Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Pinal County sheriff's deputies said when they arrived, they found Swenson had been thrown from the vehicle.
Authorities said they determined the vehicle he was driving was traveling southbound on Ironwood Road just south of the Motor Cross park when he drifted off the roadway and onto the dirt shoulder.
Swenson attempted to regain control of his vehicle by turning back onto the roadway but overcorrected and lost control, PCSO said. His vehicle crossed over both north and southbound lanes of traffic before rolling several times.
Swenson was not wearing his seatbelt, sheriff's deputies said.
While it doesn't appear he was impaired by alcohol or drugs, sheriff's investigators said he may have suffered from a medical condition.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine his cause of death.
