Burglars steal video cameras, computers from Sego Middle School

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

UPDATE:

The Richmond County Board of Education Police Department said the fire alarm at Sego Middle School went off Saturday. Officers thought they were responding to a fire, but caught something else on surveillance video.

Investigators said three people pushed in the plexiglas at the school gym and broke into the building around 4P.M.

They then went through the school, took computer systems, surveillance cameras and got away with two thousand dollars worth of property.

Chief Alfonzo Williams said they believe the suspects are young and could have been looking for quick cash. People around the area are urged to keep their eyes open for the equipment.

If you have any information, officers said you can report it anonymously and confidentially to the Richmond County Sheriff's office at (706) 821-1000, the school system or the Richmond County Board of Education Police Department at (706) 826-1000.

_________________________

Richmond County deputies are looking for three people they believe stole computers and video cameras from a school.

Deputies responded to Sego Middle School just before 7 p.m. Sunday after an alarm at the school was activated. They found that a back door of the gym had been forced open.

Video footage shows three people running through the school at about 4:26 p.m.

Anyone with information about the larceny can contact Investigator Tim Taylor of the Richmond County Board of Education at 706-826-1133.
