Through Monday, November 18th, Bank of America is tripling every dollar donated to the food bank.

Golden Harvest's executive director Travis McNeal gets excited when he thinks about the amount of people they'll be able to help this holiday season.

"It really means a lot at Golden Harvest because we're already able to distribute seven dollars worth of food with a one dollar donation," McNeal stated.

According to McNeal, there's been a 15 million dollar reduction in SNAP benefits in the 19 counties in Georgia that Golden Harvest services. He said that people are struggling to feed their families and these donations are crucial.

"During November and December families are looking to put food on their table and they're already beginning to think about Christmas and how they're going to budget. So it's a crucial time for the lives of those that are in need," said McNeal.

So far, Bank of America and the Golden Harvest food bank have been able to raise $129,000. McNeal said that Monday is the last day Bank of America is multiplying each dollar, and it's essential that we help our neighbors as much as possible.

"we wanted to get those dollars back into our local economy so that we could continue to bless our agencies in our area. They are in such great need."

McNeal says that donations can be made by telephone, online, or in person.
