NAU lecturer gets ring back 24 years later

Posted: Updated:

A Northern Arizona University lecturer is getting back his ring from Pennsylvania's Norristown High School, thanks to a New Mexico couple.

Roland Erwin was recently raking leaves in the front yard of his Portales home when he found the 1969 ring.

The 82-year-old Erwin and his wife live in a house that formerly belonged to the Phi Kappa Phi fraternity at Eastern New Mexico University.

The ring is engraved with the initials RGH. Thinking that it might belong to a former fraternity member, the Erwins contacted ENMU for help.

The university discovered that Richard George Holloway from Norristown graduated from ENMU in May 1973.

ENMU is mailing the ring to Holloway, who says he used to live in the area where the Erwin's home is located.
