Disappointing Obamacare enrollment numbers, Hawaii legalizing same-sex marriage and Whitey Bulger's sentencing all made headlines this week. Disappointing Obamacare enrollment numbers, Hawaii legalizing same-sex marriage and Whitey Bulger's sentencing all made headlines this week.

(RNN) - Only 106,000 people have signed up for health insurance following the rollout of the Affordable Care Act healthcare exchanges, according to government officials.

On Thursday, President Barack Obama announced that those who had received a cancellation notice from their insurance company may get to keep their individual plan for one more year.

Hawaii became the most recent state to legalize same-sex marriage. The governor signed the bill on Wednesday. Same-sex couples can get married in the state starting Dec. 2.

Convicted Boston gangster James "Whitey" Bulger was sentenced to two life terms plus five years for running a criminal enterprise. A jury found Bulger guilty on 31 counts in August.
