    According to the sheriff's office, a man walked into the store just after 11 a.m., presented a gun, and demanded cash. He then reportedly shot the clerk twice and fled the scene.

    On Sunday, August 12, 2018, at approximately midnight, Deputy Lamberth of the Road Patrol Division of the Burke County Sheriff's Office pulled over a gray Nissan Altima going 78 mph in a 55 mph zone on the Highway 25 Bypass.  As the officer approached the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside and he called for backup. AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

A man is in the hospital after a shooting on Cooney Circle Wednesday afternoon, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to Jennings Place apartments in the 1800 block of Cooney Circle just after 5 p.m. after reports of gunshots being fired.

A man was shot in the back, deputies said. He was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center.

A 9-year-old child was also injured by broken glass and was being treated at the scene, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies don't have a suspect in the shooting. They are investigating the case.
