AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

It was a close call at Paine College on Friday. Officials at the school said Daniel Jerome McFarlin came on the campus with a gun.

He's not a student, but was allegedly looking for someone who is enrolled, officials said. That person's name is not being released. Officials said students first spotted McFarlin on the corner of 15th street and Laney Walker. They said he was talking loudly, swearing and saying he wanted to hurt someone.

The students called 911. The Paine College Police Department and the Richmond County Sheriff's Office got involved and searched McFarlin's car. Inside they found methamphetamine.

Mcfarlin is a convinced felon and did not have a permit for the gun he was carrying. He is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of methamphetamine.
