Nashville Rescue Mission asks for Thanksgiving meal donations

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

As you start planning your Thanksgiving menu, the Nashville Rescue Mission is asking that you add another turkey to your shopping list.

The mission has an urgent need for 500 turkeys, weighing 12 pounds or more, by Friday, Nov. 22.

Every year, the mission serves traditional Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of the city's homeless.

This year's banquet will be on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28.

The mission also needs canned vegetables and other sides, aluminum foil, plastic flatware and napkins. To see a complete list of the rescue mission's requests, visit: http://www.nashvillerescuemission.org/uploads/1216.pdf.

You can also donate money to the rescue mission by visiting: http://www.nashvillerescuemission.org/donate_turkeys.

Drop off turkeys and other goods at the mission, 616 Seventh Ave. South, Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
