Downtown store owner facing drugs, weapons charges after massive bust

Posted: Updated:

A skate shop owner is facing charges after a massive drug bust went down at a business on bustling Broughton Street in historic downtown Savannah.

Mark Redman, 29, owns Elev8ed, a skate shop and now more. He's being charged with trafficking marijuana after investigators say they found 13 pounds of high grade pot, most of it stashed in the skate shop. In addition, agents seized 8 handguns, four high-powered rifles, ballistic vests, cash and an SUV along with marijuana.

The Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team says tips to undercover drug agents led them to Elev8ed, where investigators say the multi-state drug operation was in plain sight, not too far from the Chatham County Courthouse.

"I just realized tonight why this store is called elevated… People get high," said Naimah Faison, Elev8ed customer.

The CNT is working with U.S. Postal Service inspectors and say their investigation spreads beyond Georgia's borders and say more arrests can be expected.

Redman has been charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. in Chatham County Recorder's Court.
