LEXINGTON, SC (WIS) -

Steve MacDougall is the official winner of the town of Lexington's mayoral race.

A recount completed Friday morning by Lexington County election officials confirmed that Councilman MacDougall edged out incumbent Randy Halfacre by 18 votes.

The official count gave MacDougall 807 votes to Halfacre's 789 votes, the same numbers that officials reported on Tuesday.

The recount came at the request of Halfacre after Tuesday night's results were certified.

Halfacre said Tuesday night he did not want to comment until the results were final.

"It's a big job, and I'm ready for it," said MacDougall Tuesday night. "The people spoke, it's already done. It's unfortunate we didn't have very good turnout, but it's enough to win. It's a great feeling."
