Port Wentworth voted for mayor on Tuesday, re-electing Glenn Jones for another term in office.
Incumbant Mayor Jones defeted his opponent, Gary Norton, by about 70 votes in Tuesday's election.
Jones tells WTOC he is excited to for the opportunity to have four more years to grow the city.
"It's great. It feels great that the citizens of Port Wentworth decided they want to put me in for four more years," said Jones. "I'm excited to keep doing the things we've been doing."
Jones says although 2 of the candidates he supported did not get elected, he says he is excited to work with the newly elected officials.
Along with the major elections tonight in Chatham County, another big race was held on Tybee Island Tuesday night, as voters cast ballots for City Council.
Rob Callanhan and Monty Parks tied for 22.31 percent of the vote while Bill Garbett took 21 percent.
Sloan Knudson at 17 percent and Tom Groover at 15 percent.
In Bloomingdale, Ben Rozier takes the victory and wins the race for Mayor. With 100% of the precincts reporting, Rozier received 53 percent of the vote while opposing candidate, Jerry Crosby, took 47 percent.
