AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Two candidates in the Georgia House District 127 race, Brian Prince and Diane Evans, are most likely headed for a runoff.
Unofficial results late Tuesday night showed that Prince had about 45.6 percent of the vote, with all precincts in Richmond and Jefferson County reporting. To win, he needed more than 50 percent of the vote.
Evans had about 31.8 percent of the vote, according to the unofficial results.
The third candidate, Dianne Murphy, had about 25 percent of the vote.
Election officials will announce Wednesday if a runoff is needed. If so, it will be held Dec. 3.
The winner will fill the seat left vacant after the passing of Rep. Quincy Murphy, D-Augusta.
The race is non-partisan, but all candidates are Democrats. The candidate who fills Murphy's seat will serve the remainder of his term, which is a little more than a year.
