GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – The Georgetown Police Department has made a fifth arrest in connection to a series of burglaries that have happened in Maryville over the past year, officials confirmed.

Raekwon Shaheed Jarrell Grant and Shyheim Rayquan Gardner, both 18 years old, were arrested early in the morning of Friday, November 1 by a task force of officers, including South Carolina Law Enforcement Division agents, U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force agents, SC Parole and Probation agents, Drug Enforcement Unit agents, and investigators with the Georgetown Police Department, according to a Facebook post from GPD.

The ongoing investigative operation has been conducted by the Georgetown Police Department, the 15th Judicial Circuit Drug Enforcement Unit and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

"The Georgetown Police Department would like to thank the residents of Maryville for their patience and cooperation during what has been an unsettling period for them," the post states. These two arrests do not resolve all the burglaries, and more arrests are expected.

According to the GPD, Grant has been charged with criminal conspiracy, and unlawful sale of a machine gun.

Gardner has been charged with burglary, criminal conspiracy, pointing a firearm at any person, unlawful sale of a machine gun, unlawful storing, keeping, or possessing of a machine gun, sale or delivery of a handgun to, and possession by, certain persons unlawful, stolen handguns, two counts of distribution of crack cocaine, five counts of distribution of heroin, trafficking crack cocaine, trafficking crack cocaine within a half mile of a school, and distribution of heroin within a half mile of a school.

On Monday, November 4, the GPD announced on Facebook that Malik Kyle Taylor, 17, was arrested and charged with burglary in connection to the Maryville burglaries. He was the third suspect arrested. Captain Nelson Brown with the GPD confirmed Taylor will be tried as an adult.

On Wednesday, November 6, the Georgetown Police stated via Facebook that they arrested another suspect.  Nineteen-year-old Shakeem Isiah Geathers of McClellenville is charged with first degree Burglary, second degree burglary, criminal conspiracy, and sale or delivery of a pistol.

Also on Wednesday,  Georgetown Police announced the arrest of 33-year-old Shavian Pierre Jenkins. He was arrested and charged with criminal conspiracy and unlawful sale of a machine gun. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service in Charleston.

The GPD said the investigation still continues, and more arrests are expected to be made.
