One suspected burglar probably did not expect to be tackled and sat on by some vigilant neighbors, but that is exactly what happened Tuesday night.
Around 7 p.m., neighbors near 12th Street and Peoria Avenue in Phoenix heard a commotion, and when they went outside, they saw a man breaking into a home.
"A guy busted through the fence, and (that) freaked me out," said Autumn Light, who ended up calling police.
"He punched through and threw something through the window. His whole body went in (the house. He) grabbed something. I ran inside, grabbed the phone and called the cops," she continued.
Right after Phoenix police arrived, so did the homeowner, Marlene Blakeney. She said the burlgar tried taking her mother's painting, and she's glad neighbors stopped the man.
"I have been in this house for over 30 years, and we have always watched out for each other. So it's been a good neighborhood," said Blakeney.
Phoenix police say it appears the suspected burglar is homeless. He was taken into custody at the scene.
