A hitchhiker's arm was hit by a truck on Highway 20 near Newport.
Police are investigating the situation as a hit-and-run crash. Investigators said Damien Brown, 29, of Newport had his arm extended at Milepost 2 at about 9 p.m. Saturday.
He was on the eastbound shoulder in a dark, unlit area, when a truck approached. Brown said the driver struck his arm, pulled over about 100 yards away, stopped momentarily, then drove off.
Brown suffered a broken arm, according to police.
The truck is described as an older model blue truck, possibly with Oregon plates. The victim said it appeared there was one person inside.
Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 541-265-5354, ext. 313.
