A Martinez man is in jail after Columbia County deputies say he raped and beat a woman.
Deputies say Keith Connolly, 40, raped the woman and beat her across the face and head on Oct. 12.
Deputies also say Connolly grabbed her throat and choked her, and threatened to "crush her skull."
The woman was eventually able to break away from Connolly, according to the incident report. She barricaded herself in a room, but Connolly kicked down doors to get to her.
Deputies say the woman couldn't call for help because Connolly had broken her phone earlier. When Connolly finally left, the woman was able to use someone else's phone to call for help.
Connolly is charged with rape, simple assault and battery. He is being held at the Columbia County Detention Center.
