Richmond County investigators looking into hit and run accident

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

UPDATE:

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is now offering a cash reward for anyone who has information about a hit and run accident Friday night on White road.

Two pedestrians, 58-year old Jerry Mims and 44-year old Tonya Lane, were near White road around midnight Friday, when deputies said both were struck by a car.

Deputies said they are now looking for a gold or tan Pontiac G-6 rental car, with possible front end damage.

Deputies found pieces of the car they believe hit Mims and Lane at the scene and are now using serial numbers of some of those parts to figure out what happened.

Surveillance video from stores within a mile of the crime scene are also being reviewed.

Deputies are asking anyone with information to call (706) 821-1483.

_______________

The Richmond County Sheriffs Office is currently investigating a hit and run accident at the 200 Block of Walker Street.

Officers said a man was struck by a White Ford Taurus. They said that car left the scene, but the direction it went isn't known.

The victim was transported to the GRU ER for medical treatment. Fox 54 will update you when more information is available.
