WAYNESBORO, GA (WFXG) - Plant Vogtle will test its emergency notification system Thursday evening.
All 47 sirens and all residents' tone alert radios within a 10-mile radius of the plant will be activated sometime between 7 and 7:30 p.m., officials said. The test is no cause for concern and requires no action from area residents.
The sirens will sound for approximately three minutes, officials said. A tone alert radio message directing residents to tune to an Emergency Alert System radio or TV station will repeat several times.
Immediately after the sirens, contractors representing Plant Vogtle will conduct a brief telephone survey of residents in the area. The five-minute survey will evaluate the effectiveness and coverage of the alert notification system.
