MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

According to Montgomery Police officials, the early morning fire at Flip's Uptown Grill on Perry Hill Road is being investigated as an 'incendiary' fire. Authorities believe the fire was intentionally set near the kitchen and the drive through window area.

A little after 4:00 a.m. Montgomery Firefighters responded to 3900 Atlanta Highway after a police officer spotted flames coming from the drive through window.

Firefighters responded to the scene and got the fire under control around 5:00 a.m.

Authorities say the business has suffered heavy damage.

Police and investigators were also on the scene and say it is believed that there may have been criminal activity involved with the fire.

Restaurants owner Phillip Philipou was upset after learning of the fire. He says he isn't sure what will happen next.

Philipou says the restaurant opened in December of 1993 and was just weeks away from celebrating its 20th anniversary there.

If you saw anything that could help authorities, call the MFD Investigations office at 334-622-2250.
