AIKEN, SC (WFXG) - The Aiken School of Cosmetology has set-up shop at the Western Carolina State Fair to sell t-shirts, wristbands, jewelry and even paint nails all in honor of breast cancer survivors.
They are doing all of this for small donations that will go to local breast cancer research and support groups.
"I have an aunt who is a survivor of breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy. I saw everything she went through and how difficult it was," said Melanie Thigpen, lead instructor at the school. "To be able to give back makes a big difference especially when you have personal experience. Our owner also has a child who is a survivor of cancer. So it's something that's really close to our hearts."
