Driver charged with reckless murder in Montgomery pedestrian's death
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -
The Montgomery Police Department has charged a driver with reckless murder in its investigation of a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Friday, October 18.
MPD charged Kevin Crosskey, 28, of Montgomery in connection with the death of pedestrian, Ashlee Mock, 25, also of Montgomery.
On Friday, October 18, 2013, at approximately 11:27 p.m., Montgomery Police and Fire medics responded to the 1900 Block of Yarbrough Street in reference to two pedestrians that were struck by a vehicle.
MPD's initial investigation indicates a 2007 Dodge Durango driven by Crosskey was travelling west bound on Yarbrough Street when he collided with a parked vehicle and two pedestrians standing in close proximity.
Mock was fatally injured and pronounced dead on the scene. Family members tell WSFA 12 News her small dog, Scooter, was also killed.
The other pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.
Crosskey received minor injuries.
Following his arrest, Crosskey was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where he was being held under a $75,000 bond.
The cause of this crash is currently under investigation, and no further information is available.
Mock is Montgomery's 16th traffic fatality of 2013.
