Several Augusta roads to close for paving, construction

Several roads in the Augusta area will be closed this week for construction, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.

Officials are asking drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in all work zones.

The following roads will be closed:

Maddox Road at the intersection of Wrightsboro Road

One lane will be closed for paving from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Wrightsboro Road between Flowing Wells Road and Maddox Road

One lane will be closed for paving from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Flowing Wells Road at the intersection of Wrightsboro Road

One lane will be closed for paving from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Deans Bridge Road southbound at the I-520 overpass

Deans Bridge Road southbound will continue to be closed through Oct. 28 for bridge construction. A signed detour will be in place using I-520 west, Gordon Highway and I-520 east. Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible.

One lane will be closed for bridge construction from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.
