AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Richmond County Commissioners voted yes Tuesday night on the latest phase of the stormwater fee implementation project.
The $500,000 bill allows a third party consultant to take inventory of Augusta's stormwater infrastructure and develop a billing system for the tax fee.
The motion was approved in a 8-1 vote. Commissioner Wayne Guilfoyle says he shot down the referendum because it's an unfair mandate on the people in his district.
"We need to go and see how much we can accomplish using the current study as opposed to putting it off until we get a new study done," Guilfoyle said. "And this is something that we've been working on for a long time but we haven't been making significant progress."
