Savannah River Site deer hunts canceled due to government shutdown

The 2013 Savannah River Site Deer Hunts have been canceled due to the government shutdown.

The hunts were scheduled for Oct. 26 through Dec. 7, but thanks to a lack in federal appropriations, the events will be defunded.

The cancellation includes the Wounded Warrior and Mobility-Impaired Hunts held annually at the Savannah River Site, scheduled for Nov. 1 through 2.

Officials say deer hunt fees already received will be refunded.
