AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - Just a shadow of Fort Discovery remains at the River Place Condominiums in downtown Augusta.
But a breath of fresh air could be coming to the riverfront property soon because a buyer is eyeing the space.
California real estate investor Moshe Silagi owns the property.
Silagi says a potential customer is interested in the property which has 120,000 square feet.
Silagi bought the space for $2 million about 2 years ago; he says if a deal happens it would bring at least 400 jobs.
City leaders, such as Commissioner Bill Fennoy, are paying close attention.
"I believe that many jobs would create restaurants and shopping. It would have a positive impact overall in downtown Augusta," he said.
Silagi isn't naming the interested buyer and isn't saying what the space would be used for yet.
