WASHINGTON (CBS5) -

An Arizona congressman handcuffed and detained by authorities in Washington, DC, during a protest in support of immigration reform, has been released, Capitol Police told CBS 5 News on Wednesday morning.

Rep. Raul Grijalva, D-AZ, was among about 200 protesters and fellow lawmakers who blocked the road in front of the Capitol to draw attention to their cause.

He and the others were arrested on charges of crowding, obstructing and incommoding under DC code, Capitol Police said.

They were speaking out in support for federal immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship. A Grijalva spokesman said the Tucson Democrat expected to be arrested.

Grijalva's spokesman, Adam Sarvana, said Grijalva had the money in his pocket to bail himself out. He was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.

According to a spokeswoman for the Alliance for Citizenship, a key organizer of Wednesday's march, the following lawmakers were also protesting with Grijalva: John Lewis of Georgia, Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, Joseph Crowley of New York, Keith Ellison of Minnesota, Al Green of Texas, Jan Schakowsky of Illinois and Charlie Rangel of New York.
