FORT GORDON, GA (WFXG) - Fort Gordon employees are returning to work after almost a week on furlough as part of the government shutdown.
Most services at the installation resumed normal operations Monday, according to Fort Gordon officials. The commissary is set to re-open Tuesday.
The DOL Transportation services and the Mission Installation Contracting Command office will remain at reduced manning until further notice, officials said.
U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Saturday that he would recall most of the Defense Department civilians who were placed on furlough on Oct. 1.
