RCSO confirms driver who hit 10-year-old is not at fault

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - The Richmond County Sheriff's Office confirmed a driver who dropped off 10-year-old Jamario Sanders in a median before he was hit by car Saturday night was cited with a ticket.

Santana Marah was cited for improper stopping in the roadway, said Monica Belser with the sheriff's office. The driver who hit Sanders was not charged.

Sanders was dropped off at the 2500 block of Meadowbrook Drive around 8 p.m., in the middle of the center lane.

Officers say he tried to run across the street, and that's when he was hit. He was sent to GRU with non-life-threatening injuries and is now doing well.
