ADPS: Older woman injured after crashing car into restaurant

AIKEN, SC (WFXG) -

Splintered plywood and insulation hangs out of the side of an Aiken restaurant after a car crashed into it Wednesday afternoon.

Aiken Public Safety officers say an older woman was behind the wheel. She's being treated for minor injuries at a hospital.

Employees say before she crashed into the Red Lobster on Whiskey Road, she backed into bushes and whipped donuts in the parking lot.

Officers say she won't be charged because the crash was an accident.

Employees described hearing a loud boom when the car smashed into the restaurant. They say the force of the crash moved the bar several feet across the room.

The men's bathroom was behind the wall that was hit and it's closed for repairs.

Crews will be working through the night to patch up the outside of the building.

They will be open for business Thursday.

There is no way to fully avoid ticks during the summer time but luckily there are ways to minimize your exposure to ticks.

The best way to minimize exposure is to check for ticks whether that is checking your body, clothes, or pets. The use of insect repellant with twenty to thirty percent DEET can lower your chances of tick bites. It is also important to know where to expect ticks.
