Man in violent AZ shovel attack eyes plea deal

Posted: Updated:

An Arizona man set to stand trial for beating members of a northern Arizona family with a shovel before stealing their pickup and dogs might accept a plea agreement.

The Prescott Daily Courier reports that 40-year-old Eric Tuttle was offered a deal last week that would turn a potential 250-year sentence into 21 years or less.

According to investigators, Tuttle attacked a Seligman family in 2012 who had previously let him stay on their property.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says Tuttle assaulted a 54-woman, her 77-year-old dad and her 77-year-old mom during a violent rampage.

Deputies say Tuttle then bound the trio with duct tape inside a travel trailer and stole the family's truck.

Tuttle's attorney, Linda Moore, say she didn't have a decision on the plea deal.

Tuttle is scheduled to reappear in court Oct. 28.
