33rd annual 'Arts in the Heart' festival kicks off

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Jennifer Prouty is displaying her work downtown this weekend for Arts in the Heart, but she knows Downtown Augusta is on display, too.

"It's another side of Augusta you never get to see."

The festival will have food, fun and entertainment through Sunday.

Greater Augusta Arts Council Director of Outreach Sallie West said, "It's a great chance for people who have never had any exposure to art to learn. It's also a great chance for people already involved in the arts to get out."

People checking out downtown Friday agree.

Claude Harris Jr. said, "This is one of the things that uplifts and encourages people to come downtown and enjoy it for what it is."

Officials say money raised from this weekend will go towards making next year bigger and better.
