Single engine plane crashes near Richmond-Burke County line

A small, single engine plane has crashed off of Boulineau Road in southern Richmond County.

Around 2:38pm, Richmond County Sheriff's deputies responded alongside the Hephzibah Police Department to reports of an airplane crash.

Deputies found a Christian Eagle II airplane, and discovered the plane had complications when landing in an airfield and conducted a forced landing in the rear of a structure at 4533 Boulineau Road.

The pilot and one passenger were transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center with minor injuries, non-life threatening injuries. The aircraft sustained damage during the incident.

The FAA is on the way to the scene to investigate further.
