Man charged with murder in shooting near Wagener; victim identified

Ricordo Williams was a wanted man Friday, after a physical altercation between him and 25-year old Kerry Eck got out of control.

ACSO Public Information Officer Captain Eric Abdullah said, "During that physical altercation, the suspect did shoot the victim in the head."

Eck died from gunshot wounds. Police found her early Friday morning, near Rawls road and Highway 39.

"We do know it was a handgun that was used," Captain Abdullah said.

He said a third person got away and was able to find help.

"She went several houses away, where she was able to call law enforcement for assistance. Right now, there is a possible motive this was in reference to the possession or a sale of legal narcotics."

Williams turned himself in Friday afternoon. Some neighbors tell Fox 54 this is rare for the street. Others say they've been trying for a petition, to get more law enforcement out to patrol the area.

Williams is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
