Railroad repairs to cause road closures in Grovetown

GROVETOWN, GA (WFXG) - CSX Railroad will continue repairs of the rail system that runs through Grovetown starting Tuesday.

The repairs will cause some road closures. Here's the schedule:

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Robinson Ave (HWY 223) will be closed at the railroad crossing.

On this day all traffic that needs to cross is encouraged to use alternate routes through Grovetown (Jimmy Dyes Parkway or Hwy 221). The Katherine Street crossing will be open on this day, but it is a no truck route.

Wednesday, Sept. 18

Same as Tuesday.

Thursday, Sept. 19

On this day, both Robinson Ave (HWY 223) and Katherine Street will be closed to all through traffic. The road can accommodate local traffic, but the rail crossings will be closed.

All through traffic must use alternate route to bypass Grovetown. Suggestions are Jimmy Dyes Parkway, Gordon Hwy and Wrightsboro Road to 221. Parham Road to Newmantown Road is a good option for cars. Parham has a bridge that crosses over the tracks.

Friday, Sept. 20

Same as Thursday.

CSX representatives say it's possible that the crossing my be completed earlier and may be open for traffic earlier than expected.
