Thomson-McDuffie Golf Classic raises money for at-risk youth

THOMSON, GA (WFXG) - The Boys & Girls Club of Thomson-McDuffie County hosted its 6th annual Golf Classic Monday. The event is held to help the 125 at-risk children involved in the Club's after school and summer camp programs. Eighty-four golfers hit the green to support the club that helps children achieve academic success and leadership skills.

It's just a great chance for the community to come out and really rally behind the kids whose futures they're supporting, and so invest in the future of the whole community," said Julie Kennedy, Corporate and Public Relations Coordinator. "We're just so thrilled to have the participation we've had today and the support of the Thomson-McDuffie County community.

Last year, the Golf Classic raised more than $22,000. This year, organizers hope to have another record-breaking year.
