2 critically injured after train hits car in Allendale County

Two people were taken to the hospital early Friday after an Amtrak train crashed into a car in Allendale County.

The car was sitting on the tracks when a train en route from New York to Miami crashed into it around 3:32 a.m. near Fairfax.

None of the 178 passengers aboard the train was injured. The two people in the car were rushed to GRU Medical Center.

The Varnville, SC Police Chief confirms the car was stolen from his jurisdiction.
