The transport of an oversize load from Fairfield, Ohio to the Ohio River continued its route Thursday, coming to a stop in Ross for the night.

The 270,000 pound gross fiberglass tanker is 170 feet long, nearly 22 feet wide and nearly 19 feet high.

The tanker's journey began on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. Initially planned to reach its destination by Wednesday afternoon, officials said the route is expected to now last three to four days total.

The route, beginning in Fairfield, is as follows:

  • The tanker will head north on State Route 747 to North State Route 4.
  • Just north of State Route 73, a 10 to 15 minute closure will be in place on State Route 4.
  • Transport will then proceed on west State Route 129 to south State Route 177 to west State Route 130 to Mormon Road.
  • The truck will proceed to State Route 129 to South U.S. 27 to west State Route 126 to south State Route 128 to east U.S. 50.
  • After transit through several streets in North Bend, the tanker will arrive at a barge docked near Southside Avenue, Cincinnati.

Authorities say that top speeds through tow zones and villages will not exceed 5 miles per hour.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays.
