Man in critical condition, stabbed over slammed door

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - A man is in critical condition after he was stabbed twice in the stomach, according to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.

The stabbing victim's wife Heidi Murray says Sonny Burdick, her husband, was stabbed over a slammed door.

She says Brandon Osgood, one of their roommates at a boarding house on Crawford Avenue, has been slamming doors for several months.

She says it caused minor fights in the past but when a door was slammed Monday afternoon it led to her husband being stabbed.

Murray says when the door was slammed her husband started yelling and calling the roommate names.

She says that's when Osgood lost it, pulled out a knife and stabbed her husband several times.

Murray said, "He had stuff hanging out of his stomach." She continued, saying, "he was stabbed with a long knife, it wasn't a butcher knife; it was a long, thin knife."

Murray says her husband and Osgood have mental health issues. She thinks that may have played a part in the stabbing over the slammed door.
