Judge grants bond in Harold Rhodes case

Judge sets bond for Harold "Dusty" Rhodes

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) - A Richmond County Judge set bond at 100 thousand dollars for Harold 'Dusty' Rhodes Friday. Rhodes is accused of molesting his now 13-year-old stepdaughter and faces multiple child molestation charges, as well as a rape charge.

The girl alleges the sexual abuse began verbally when she was six and physically at eight.

According to information released during the bond hearing, the girl also says she told her mother about the alleged abuse, who then told her she would not be able to do anything about it.

Family and friends testified in Rhodes defense, saying they don't believe he did this. His biological daughter told the court Rhodes current wife has cancer and needs his help getting back and forth to treatment.

The conditions of his bond are no contact with the stepdaughter or any minor children.

Rhodes ran for Augusta's District 8 seat back in 2003. He was also the owner of a south Augusta flea market.
